Welcome to the New Feathers. I hope everyone's settling in all right. Things have been peaceful lately, and it's better than landing in Luceti in the middle of an experiment. I'm Terra, and I've been here for half a year now.

I'd like to ask for some help from Ven's friends. You might also know him as "Ventus." Ven's been here a lot longer than me, and I'm pretty sure he hasn't had a chance to celebrate his birthday at all. There were plans for a surprise party, but things just ... kept happening. [The draft. Aqua's second disappearance. And now Kohan had ran off with little more than a note. There's a noticeable pause in the message before Terra continues.] I'd appreciate any help.

...I'm not really sure. When I was young and living in the Garden, I was attacked by these monsters. I know now that they were the Unversed, but she came and saved me. She and the King both.

I remember that she had a Keyblade...and I remember touching it before she picked me up and rescued me. And after the monsters were gone she cast a spell on my necklace. [You know, the one she still wears that she's actually lifting up to show Terra through the camera.] She said it was a protection spell, something that would guide me toward the light to keep me safe.

I think...that's why when the Garden fell a year later I was sent to the islands. That's where Sora and Riku found me.

Would that be considered a ceremony?

[Despite everything that Kairi explains, Terra can't really see much of a correlation when she explains the spell. But touching the Keyblade...? Could that have been enough?]

Aqua is very talented with magic, and I think her spell may have been why you found your way to Riku and Sora ... but I don't think any of that could be considered a ceremony.

Thanks for sharing that with me. [They couldn't have been very pleasant memories.]

There's something of a proper ceremony when a Master bestows the Keyblade to a new wielder. ...It's more of a speech than anything. [He chuckles quietly.]

I never got that. Riku just handed me a Keyblade and that was that. But that means you gave him a speech...[So wait, then how did Sora...this is kind of a lot to process.] It's really as simple as "I make you my successor"?

The successor takes hold of the Master's Keyblade for awhile, too. If you have the makings, then through the simple act of taking, someday you'll also be able to wield the Keyblade. [...] ...But Riku just handed you a Keyblade? Not his own?

Yeah. It's...mine, I guess. He gave it to me and I was able to fight with it. Still am. I didn't have it for a while, but I got it back earlier this year.

Strange. The Keyblade should first appear to the wielder. But you didn't know you had a Keyblade until he gave it to you?

Right. And for a while I wasn't even sure it was mine because it went away right after that, and I couldn't summon it for a few years. But now I can...that's what I don't understand about it, I guess. Does it sound like something you're familiar with, Terra?

It doesn't. [He shakes his head faintly.] The Keyblade reacts to the heart of its wielder, so unless something happened that disturbed your heart, it should have appeared to you. [But if Riku had it originally, could it be that it was Riku's Keyblade, and that had somehow triggered Kairi's own Keyblade usage?

He sighs to himself.] Sorry. Even I don't know all of the mysteries of the Keyblade.

...what do you consider a disturbance to the heart? [She's got a feeling she knows the answer.]

Don't worry about it. We can all learn together...too bad there isn't just one person that knows everything though.

If your heart is closed to the Keyblade by darkness. That's the only example I can think of. [Not everyone had the makings, and it seemed all too likely that the power could be lost. The darkness could be very powerful.]

Maybe someday Master Eraqus or another Keyblade Master will show up.

...what about if a person's heart was lost from their body but they didn't become a heartless?

You should tell me more about Master Eraqus sometime. Aqua vaguely mentioned him, but not much.

[He's hesitant to respond. He wishes he could be more sure about this topic.] The Keyblade should follow the wielder's heart. If it can't, I would guess it would seek shelter with someone else with the makings if they happen to be close by. [He shakes his head again.] This is a lot of theory, so don't take it too seriously.

...He's a great man. I always got the feeling he knew everything. [Or maybe that's just how deep his admiration ran.]

[...no, no Terra, that's a pretty close theory considering what Kairi knows about what happened with her boys.] It's a pretty rationalized theory. I think it makes sense. But I wish we could know for certain, too.

You've known him for a while?

Maybe someday. I'll try to keep the question in mind in case there's ever a chance to ask about it.

He is. I look up to him a lot. [Even if he ... had some trust issues after the Mark of Mastery exam and Radiant Garden.] He's patient, strong, and wise. You probably have an idea that Aqua and I have very different fighting styles; Master Eraqus taught us both.

...talented as well, then. Did he teach Ven, too?

He did. [Pretty much all over again, considering how things had gone for Ven.] Ven's style is somewhere between my own and Aqua's, but with more focus on speed.

I wish the boys had a master to learn from...might have made everything easier. But I guess they're doing okay on their own.

It's never too late to learn. [But he can't help but wonder once again why he--and Ven and Aqua--could not help Riku and Sora when they were facing their own ordeals.]

Aqua was teaching us a lot when she was here. I think we were making a lot of progress. [She's not entirely sure of that either.]

Are you still learning? I've been practicing with Riku and Sora for awhile now. [Longer with Riku, but that was probably not a surprise.]

Yeah. Sora and I were training together before he disappeared and came back, and I was training with Aqua, but now it's just a lot of practice on my own.
